That phrase rolls off my tongue just as easily as “Hi, how are you?” They essentially mean the same thing, the first one (in Finnish) correctly translated would be: Hi and good afternoon. Being able to think, speak, read, and write in two or more languages is, according to Time magazine, very good for the brain. The same article touts that new studies are showing that a multilingual brain is nimbler, quicker, better able to deal with ambiguities, resolve conflicts and even resist Alzheimers disease and other forms of dementia longer.
